1. Create a defined workspace

Most of us feel best if the entire home is not a workplace. Of course, not everyone lives so large that we can treat ourselves to the luxury of having a separate work room, but most can delimit an area that you absolutely do not use for work - for example the bedroom, or the bed, so that you have somewhere where you can relax off when the working day is over.

2. Remember the importance of an ergonomic workplace

Surveys show that you perform better if you have good ergonomic conditions when you work. Therefore, make sure that, even at home, you can sit and work in a good way. Alternate sitting with standing and working. Adjust your chair so that your shoulders and back don't hurt. Just because you're sitting at home, you shouldn't sacrifice ergonomics.

3. Organise a stylish workspace

Make it nice around you. Buy flowers, clean up the sink and generally spruce up the surroundings to make it nice to "go to work" at home. A work environment that is pleasant to walk and sit in increases motivation. Intersperse with a coffee break on the sofa sometimes too, of course.
4. Create and follow work routines

Many testify that a fixed work routine is the best way to increase work motivation even when working from home. Shower and dress nicely - just as if you were going to the office. Also schedule the day so that it begins with a morning meeting with colleagues. Fixed structures are more important than ever when you work from home.

5. Use digital communication tools

If there is ever a time when colleagues are important, it is now. Stay connected via all the smart digital tools available. It is actually possible to have coffee together via Google Hangout, Teams or Zoom. Do it.

6. Move

A positive aspect of working from home is that you probably save time by not commuting. Spend that time taking an extra morning or lunchtime walk. Exercise leads to increased well-being and a higher degree of efficiency.

7. Take advantage of the benefits

Take advantage of all the benefits of working from home. Sit outside in the sun when you have a phone meeting, replant the flowerpots in the time you save commuting, and ignore fixing things for yourself on those days when time is short. It's quite nice - isn't it!
